Within the accounting industry the billable hour has had preeminence but this is unsustainable. In recent years there has been a trend towards at least providing fixed fees. But (and it is a huge but) these fixed fees are often based on a time calculation (in essence a cost tool). So in essence these fixed fees are just the billable hour dressed up different clothes.

The real power is to move to real value based pricing.  This is where we take the time to understand what is of value to our customer and develop an appropriate price.

Price is a signal to our target market and we need to harness the power of tool of pricing.
